Community Connection

Church/Community Dinners

Sharing meals as a congregation and as a community is part of the St. John’s experience. There is a dedicated group of men and women who take pride and pleasure in manning the kitchen for these meals. The fellowship and communal experience of preparing and sharing a generous meal together is enjoyed by all.

Lenten Soup Suppers

Each Wednesday evening during Lent, there is a Worship Service at 6:30 p.m. that is preceded at 5:30 p.m. by a soup and sandwich supper in the Church Fellowship Hall. Church Members prepare their favorite soups and desserts. These are times of great fellowship, warmth, reflection, and preparation for all attendees during the cold winter and early spring evenings leading up to our annual celebration of Easter.

Easter Morning Breakfast

Every Easter morning at 8:00 a.m. St. John’s families look forward to a hearty breakfast of sausage, gravy, biscuits, eggs, and other breakfast goodies. This breakfast precedes the annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children and the 10:15 Easter Worship Service.

Fall Fish Fry

Each September St. John’s hosts a fish dinner for members and the community at large. The fish is fried by the men’s group at the Church, the accompanying potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw are prepared on site, and the members of the Church outdo themselves with the homemade deserts that are prepared for the enjoyment of all.

Thanksgiving Dinner

The Sunday before Thanksgiving each year an all Church Thanksgiving dinner is catered at the Church, and a goodwill offering is given to help offset the cost of the meal. The desserts are still homemade. This is also traditionally an occasion to celebrate the conclusion of the Fall Stewardship Campaign.
